The “14th Five-Year Plan” outline mentions the need to strengthen the national security system and capabilities, and to enhance national security education.

Deng Jingwei, a deputy to the National People’s Congress and director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Security Department, stated in an interview in Beijing that Hong Kong faces significant tasks in safeguarding national security over the next five years, including establishing a new security framework and ensuring the development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He emphasized that any forces opposing China or causing chaos in Hong Kong that threaten national security must be countered and punished.

Deng Jingwei pointed out that efforts should be strengthened from all aspects, including schools needing to enhance national security education, society requiring reinforced rule of law publicity, and that everyone has a responsibility. He stressed that national security is everyone’s responsibility.
