Netflix, the leading streaming service, announced last week that it has acquired InterPositive, an AI film production company founded by Hollywood superstar Ben Affleck. According to sources, the deal’s purchase price could reach up to $600 million (approximately HKD 4.68 billion), making it one of Netflix’s largest acquisitions to date.

Reports indicate that the actual cash paid by Netflix is less than this figure. If InterPositive meets certain performance targets, its owners will receive additional compensation.

The report states that Netflix’s acquisition of InterPositive aims to accelerate the application of AI in its film production. The company has developed a set of tools that enable filmmakers to modify existing footage. Director David Fincher has already used these products in his upcoming film starring Brad Pitt.

Ben Affleck, in a clip released by Netflix, said that the film-making process has always been a continuous journey of technological innovation since its inception. “We are always committed to making our work look more authentic and sincere. I hope InterPositive can be another breakthrough or new chapter in this long-standing history.”
