David Sewell Takes Leadership of Honeywell's Solstice Advanced Materials as Independent Company

Honeywell International has unveiled its executive leadership structure for Solstice Advanced Materials, the newly independent advanced materials company that is set to complete its spin-off in 2026. David Sewell will assume the role of President and CEO effective immediately, bringing over three decades of experience across the materials and chemicals sectors. His appointment represents a critical step as the company prepares to operate as a publicly traded, sustainability-focused specialty chemicals and materials leader.

Experienced Leadership Team Takes Shape

The command structure for the $4 billion revenue company reflects a depth of industry expertise. David Sewell’s background includes his most recent tenure as President and CEO of WestRock Company, as well as his previous role as President and Chief Operating Officer at The Sherwin Williams Co. Prior to these positions, Sewell spent more than 15 years in General Electric’s Plastics and Advanced Materials Division, providing him with extensive knowledge of the advanced materials landscape.

Complementing Sewell’s appointment, the company has named Rajeev Gautam as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective upon completion of the spin-off. Gautam brings four decades of Honeywell experience, including his prior role as President and CEO of Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT) and his tenure as President of Honeywell UOP.

Strengthening the Executive Board

Tina Pierce has been designated Chief Financial Officer, effective May 1, 2025, transitioning from her current position as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Honeywell Industrial Automation. With more than 25 years of Honeywell experience serving as Chief Financial Officer of major business segments, Pierce brings proven financial stewardship to the new organization.

The two business segments will be led by Jeff Dormo and Simon Mawson, who will both assume the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager. Both executives currently lead business units within Honeywell Advanced Materials and will be instrumental in maintaining operational continuity during the transition.

Global Operations and Strategic Positioning

Solstice Advanced Materials will be headquartered in Morris Plains, New Jersey, establishing itself as a pure-play advanced materials company with leading technologies, including the signature Solstice hydrofluoroolefin technology brand. The company’s global presence extends across eight key locations: Charlotte, Houston, Dublin, Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangalore, Bucharest, and Mexico City, enabling it to serve international markets while maintaining its comprehensive manufacturing footprint and research and development infrastructure.

David Sewell’s leadership is poised to navigate the company’s transition into independence while leveraging the global platform and technological strengths that will define Solstice Advanced Materials in the competitive specialty chemicals market.
