Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 10 — According to Cointelegraph, a French couple was attacked by three masked robbers posing as police officers with knives at their home in Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, western Paris. They were forced to transfer approximately 900,000 euros (about $1 million) in Bitcoin. The couple was then bound and injured, and the robbers fled in a white van. The case has been handed over to the Versailles Prosecutor’s Office for investigation into gang-related crimes, with no arrests reported yet.

This incident is the latest example of “wrench attacks” in the cryptocurrency space in recent years—where perpetrators use violence or threats to force holders to surrender digital assets. According to cybersecurity platform CertiK, such attacks increased by 75% globally in 2025, totaling 72 incidents, with France leading at 19 cases. Since the beginning of this year, France has experienced multiple kidnappings and home invasions targeting crypto industry professionals.
