Russians Attack Ukrainian Railway Infrastructure Again
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
“This morning in the Mykolaiv region, an enemy drone struck an empty train that had arrived for technical maintenance. Unfortunately, one Ukrzaliznytsia employee was injured. He has received all necessary medical care,” the statement said.
Kuleba added that in the evening of March 3, Russian drone attempted to attack a passenger train operating on the Dnipro–Kovel route. Railway workers promptly followed safety protocols by stopping the train and preemptively evacuating passengers. The enemy UAV struck several meters from the locomotive. No passengers were injured, and once the threat had passed, the train resumed its journey.
The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development noted an intensification of attacks on railways since the beginning of March. A total of 18 strikes have already been recorded, averaging about six per day, involving UAVs and FPV drones.
During the first days of March, 41 railway facilities were damaged. Among the main targets was rolling stock, with 17 units damaged. Passenger railcars were also hit. Locomotives, freight cars, and specialized equipment used for infrastructure repairs have also come under attack. This month, the enemy has also targeted railway depots and bridges, with the heaviest shelling occurring near the front line.
