Iran: Today may elect the Supreme Leader! Trump once again falsely claims: hopes to participate in Iran's next leadership selection

According to Xinhua News Agency, citing a statement released by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran on the 7th, a member of Iran’s Expert Council said that the meeting to elect Iran’s Supreme Leader will be held within the next 24 hours.

Ayatollah Mozafari, a member of Iran’s Expert Council, stated that the council members are currently waiting for the right conditions to carefully elect the new Supreme Leader.

Mozafari said that, so far, no public meetings or elections have taken place, and he urged the public not to believe rumors lightly.

Iran’s Expert Council is the highest authority responsible for electing, supervising, and dismissing Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Trump Claims Again: Hopes to Participate in the Selection of the Next Leader

On March 7th, local time, CCTV reporters learned that U.S. President Trump expressed his hope to participate in the selection of Iran’s next leader and said he does not want the U.S. to face the same issues every five or ten years.

On the 5th, Trump stated that he “must be personally involved” in choosing Iran’s next leader. He also said he would not accept the son of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Khamenei as the new leader. He stated, “I have to be personally involved in the appointment.”
