A No-Drain Method (Free Your Time and Energy)

Stoicism:
Only control what you can control, accept what you cannot. Recognize the difference between controllable and uncontrollable, and let go of attachment to uncontrollable things.
Controllable: thoughts, attitudes, actions, reactions.
Uncontrollable: others, weather, the past, the future, luck, others' evaluations.
Stoics:
Traffic jam is beyond my control, but I can control not to get angry or waste emotions.
So I listen to podcasts, take deep breaths, and don’t let my mood be affected by traffic conditions.

Someone has a bad attitude towards you

Ordinary people: feel wronged, retaliate, waste a whole night on internal conflict.
Stoics:
How others think or speak, I cannot control.
What I can control is not being affected and staying rational.
Don’t punish myself for others’ mistakes.

Things go wrong

Ordinary people: blame themselves, regret, keep thinking “what if I had…”.
Stoics:
The past cannot be changed, what I can control is how I act now and how to avoid it next time.
Accept the outcome, focus on actions.

Expectations fall short

Ordinary people: feel disappointed, complain that the world is unfair.
Stoics:
I can control the process of my efforts, but not the results.
Just do my best, leave the outcome to reality, and avoid internal conflict.
Stoicism is a philosophical school from ancient Greece and Rome. Its core idea is to focus on controllable things, accept uncontrollable parts, and face life with rationality. It helps people recognize what they can and cannot control, follow natural laws, eliminate negative emotions, and pursue inner peace. In modern times, Stoicism offers a clear and resilient life philosophy that helps people maintain inner stability amid anxiety and competition.
