Trump nominates White House lawyer to serve as key court judge for tariff case

On February 12th local time, U.S. President Donald Trump announced several judicial nominations, including nominating White House Deputy Legal Counsel Kara Westercamp to serve as a judge on the U.S. International Trade Court. The court will participate in hearing refund lawsuits filed by companies regarding Trump’s comprehensive tariff policies, contingent upon the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the relevant tariffs are illegal.

The nomination still requires confirmation by the Republican-majority Senate. (First Financial)
