Fate and Destiny:

Many things are predestined in the unseen.

From the moment you are born, what bowl you hold, what you eat, the kind of people you meet, what you will experience in life, how many calamities you will face, and how long you will live are all predetermined. Don’t mess around!

Born ordinary, living beneath the shell, unable even to achieve basic longevity, how can there be talk of defying heaven and changing fate? What is meant to be will be, what is not meant to be should not be forced. Many things are best left to follow the natural course. I can't say that effort is useless; I can only tell you that your ability and effort appear powerless in the face of fate. If you don’t believe it, try it yourself. Often, we compete with heaven, with earth, and with people—seemingly full of joy. In reality, it is survival of the fittest. Change what can be changed, accept what cannot be changed—that is the lesson of your life. Those who forcibly try to defy heaven and change their fate will ultimately face backlash. No matter who you are, even if you are a high monk who has attained enlightenment, it’s useless. The secrets of heaven cannot be disclosed. You must understand that the rules governing the operation of this world are not to be broken.
