Artificial intelligence companies are investing millions of dollars to block this former tech executive from running for Congress.
New York State Congressional candidate Alex Bores was previously an employee at Palantir. Now he is facing a $10 million attack from the Silicon Valley-backed super PAC “Leading the Future.” The committee’s funding sources include Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and OpenAI founder Greg Brockman. Bores is one of the sponsors of the “AI Transparency Enhancement Act” (RAISE Act). He says he is targeted because his tech background makes him a strong threat to industry interest groups seeking minimal regulation. The campaign highlights a broader conflict, with tech giants like Meta spending millions of dollars in state elections to support candidates friendly to artificial intelligence.
