CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: GITCOIN GRANTS 19 | Gitcoin Issues Call for African Software and Community Builders to Apply to its Public Goods Africa Fund
Gitcoin, a crowdfunding platform that leverages blockchain to fund open-source projects, primarily those that contribute to Public Good, is looking for more African projects to apply for grants on its platform.
Public Goods Africa is running an independent round alongside Gitcoin Grants 19, intended to catalyze high-impact projects of this nature from Across Africa.
“Public Good Funding has helped catalyze lots of innovation and builder activities in other parts of the world, unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for Africa. This is partly due to lack of education, access, and deliberate efforts to connect with larger Public Good Funding initiatives,” the group said.
“Public Good Africa aims to change that. It’s exciting times and we are happy for this initiative. Know any impact project in Africa that could use funding? let them reach out to Public Good Africa.”
Through its grant rounds, Gitcoin facilitates crowdfunding for various initiatives, ranging from software development to community building. These rounds, which happen every 3 months, are more than just funding opportunities; they embody a new way of collaborative progress, democratizing the process of supporting projects that promise a positive societal impact.
Some of the benefits that the continent’s creators can derive from these funding rounds include:
It’s unclear whether the Public Goods Africa Quadratic Funding (QF) is already open to applications but the Gitcoin Grants 19 is accepting applications on a first come first serve basis.
You can apply here if you are working on open-source software, building a web3 community, building Ethereum infrastructure, and more.
For individuals, projects, and teams looking for support, you can still try to reach out to Public Goods Africa. They provide guidance to projects looking to apply.
