On February 4th, the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government Information Office held the second press conference titled “Guangzhou Goods Travel the World, the Most Festive Guangzhou.” At the scene, Zhang Zi, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau, introduced the characteristics of this year’s Spring Festival travel rush and the city’s transportation system’s measures to ensure smooth travel. Zhang Zi stated that by 2026, Guangzhou’s Spring Festival travel period will feature a “long duration, large personnel flow, and heavy保障 tasks.” In terms of passenger volume, it will reach a new historical high. During the 40 days of Spring Festival travel, combined with the 9-day holiday, the demand for returning home, visiting relatives, and tourism will be concentrated, with an estimated flow of 200 million people in and out of Guangzhou, a 3.8% increase year-on-year. At the same time, new challenges arise for hub保障, as the Guangzhou-Zhan high-speed railway connects to Guangzhou Station and Baiyun Station, and Baiyun Airport’s T3 terminal has officially begun operation, increasing交通保障压力. Analyzing travel modes, self-driving accounts for the majority, with vehicle flow on high-speed roads预计同比增长3.4%, and some sections prone to congestion. Additionally, public transportation peak保障 faces压力, as during the post-holiday return peak, demand for metro, bus, taxi, and ride-hailing services is relatively集中, putting significant压力 on transportation organization and疏运保障 at major hub stations during peak hours.
