Sony states that it will extensively incorporate AI into game development, encouraging creators by saying, "There's no need to be afraid."
Tech Home, February 7 — Generative AI is becoming an unavoidable development trend in game development. Some studios remain cautious, while an increasing number of development teams are actively exploring integrating AI into their production processes. Sony is also preparing to adapt to this trend.
On February 6, local time, according to foreign media Tech4Gamers, Sony plans to extensively use AI technology in future game development. Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, Tao Lin, believes that AI is merely a tool to improve efficiency, not a threat to creators. AI can accelerate the production process but cannot replace a complete development team, let alone become an independent business.
During an investor conference call, Tao Lin stated that Sony’s current clear direction is to heavily incorporate AI into game creation, while emphasizing that creators should not fear AI. Proper use of AI can actually significantly enhance development efficiency.
IT Home learned from the report that Sony’s strategy is not to let AI dominate development but to use it as a controlled auxiliary tool embedded into the production process to help developers work more efficiently, rather than replacing them.
