Daimler Truck Holding AG (DTG.DE) delivered a year of contrasts in 2025, with the Mercedes-Benz Trucks division bucking broader group trends while the overall commercial vehicle portfolio showed softening momentum. The truck and bus manufacturer’s total units for sale reached 422,510 vehicles last year, marking an 8% contraction from the previous year’s 460,409 units.

However, Mercedes-Benz Trucks demonstrated resilience with unit sales remaining virtually flat at 159,871 units, nearly matching the prior year’s 159,540 units. This stability in one of the group’s flagship brands offered a counterweight to softer demand across other segments.

Electric Transition Gains Traction

The standout performance came from the battery-electric vehicle segment, where units for sale more than doubled. The group shipped 6,726 electric trucks and buses in 2025, up substantially from 4,035 units a year earlier—representing a remarkable 67% jump that underscores accelerating electrification in commercial transport.

Fourth Quarter Strength in Premium Segment

The final quarter painted a more encouraging picture for Mercedes-Benz Trucks specifically. Q4 units for sale surged to 48,841 units, up 11% from 43,806 units in the year-ago period. This was a bright spot as the broader Daimler Truck Group reported Q4 deliveries of 117,974 units compared to 124,386 units previously.

The divergence between the overall group’s quarterly decline and Mercedes-Benz’s solid performance suggests shifting market preferences toward premium-positioned commercial vehicles, even as total sector volumes contracted.
