President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the US has subsidized Denmark and EU countries for years without tariffs. To secure Greenland for national security amid threats from China/Russia and recent European military presence there he will impose 10% tariffs on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1, 2026, rising to 25% on June 1, until Denmark agrees to sell Greenland outright.
