Focused promotion in Base: Does project dissatisfaction lead to ecosystem fragmentation?
Internal tensions within the Base ecosystem are beginning to reveal a fundamental problem: can overly selective support for certain projects weaken the entire network? Native project communities on Base are expressing increasingly clear dissatisfaction with a model where main marketing resources and developmental support are concentrated around a limited circle of initiatives linked to Zora.
Is creator token promotion becoming a barrier to diversification?
The strategy of introducing creator tokens by Zora on Base in August indeed yielded spectacular results – on-chain activity increased to over 10 million transactions daily, even surpassing Solana in certain engagement metrics. However, this success raises questions about the fairness of resource and attention distribution.
Projects that have been on Base for a longer time report that while Zora-adjacent initiatives receive significant ecosystem support and amplification in communication channels, their own communities remain underfunded and underrepresented. The uneven support effect is now visible in community discussions – smaller projects are seeking alternatives.
Migration risk: What threatens the Base network?
This situation poses a concrete threat to the cohesion of the Base ecosystem. Projects disappointed by marginalization are beginning to turn their attention to competing chains, especially Solana and Sui, which offer more diverse support for their projects. If dissatisfaction is not addressed, a mass migration of capital and creativity could occur.
Base processing millions of transactions is not a guarantee of ecosystem stability if core projects feel insufficiently supported. The challenge now lies with the network management team: to reconcile the need for strategic partnerships with the obligation to provide decent conditions for the entire project base.
