U.S. House Representative Proposes Insider Trading Legislation for Prediction Markets, Kalshi CEO Publicly Supports

Recently, multiple political topics on Polymarket have been embroiled in controversy. U.S. House Representative Ritchie Torres proposed the "2026 Financial Prediction Market Public Integrity Act," which aims to prohibit federal elected officials, political appointees, and administrative employees from participating in prediction market transactions involving government policies, actions, or political outcomes when they possess or could acquire material non-public information through their positions, to prevent insider trading for profit.

Kalshi CEO Expresses Support

Tarek Mansour, CEO of the renowned prediction market Kalshi, issued a statement supporting the bill. He emphasized:

• Kalshi has proactively implemented insider trading prohibitions equivalent to those of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq;

• Clear legal regulations help maintain trust in the prediction market industry;

• The bill helps distinguish regulated U.S. platforms from unregulated offshore platforms.
