Many people are still debating the value of college, but from an educational efficiency perspective, the issue is already quite clear.
Many university management structures are overly bloated, and Brown University's data clearly illustrates this—an average of one administrator for every two students. Under such a structure, teaching costs soar, and students actually receive less quality education.
Looking at it from another angle, the traditional logic of "going to school to acquire knowledge" is no longer applicable. The emergence of AI models has changed all of this. Future private teachers may not necessarily be real people, but AI systems that are online 24/7, personalized, and infinitely patient.
Interestingly, El Salvador has already begun pilot programs for "AI private tutors." This is not just a concept; it is happening in reality. As AGI capabilities approach, the education industry—this traditional sector—may undergo a complete overhaul. Higher education institutions still operating with methods from decades ago really need to start reconsidering their position.
