The Federal Reserve (FED) cut the dollar interest rate by 25 basis points.
Low interest rates benefit assets considered “riskier.”

The US monetary policy regulator, the Federal Reserve (FED), announced a new interest rate cut.

As expected, the reduction was 25 basis points. The dollar interest rate is now at 3.75% annually (was at 4.00% annually before the announcement).

Although interest rate cuts are generally beneficial for bitcoin (BTC), the market remains calm for now.

Half an hour after the announcement, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell held a press conference. He explained that he cannot affirm nor deny if there will be rate cuts in the coming months.
