#x402协议 Seeing PING rise 8 times in one day reminds me of the inscription craze two years ago. This familiar feeling is as if history is repeating itself. The x402 protocol is very similar to the Ordinals protocol of that year, both operating through on-chain data and off-chain interpretation rights. Users send USDC on the Base chain, and x402scan acts as an indexer to validate transactions and distribute tokens. Isn't this just a replica of inscriptions?
When the inscriptions were boycotted back then, I was still wondering what the significance of such dust trading was. It seems that the existence logic of PING is similar, but it successfully ignited the x402 narrative, bringing exposure and use cases to the protocol. This can only be described as a clever marketing move.
However, the centralized custody method of PING has issues and is inconsistent with the original intention of the x402 protocol. I predict that more new projects claiming to be "orthodox" will emerge, improving custody methods or gaining native protocol support. This wave is unstoppable, and Pandora's box has been opened again.
Looking back at history, we can always see a cyclical return of hotspots. However, each wave of enthusiasm brings new improvements and innovations. I hold a cautiously optimistic attitude towards the future development of the x402 track. After all, the market is always evolving forward.
