Analyst Predicts Bitcoin Peak Above $300,000, But Warns of Possible 76% Crash
Bitcoin’s rally to a new all-time high above $123,000 in July has reignited discussions: some believe the leading cryptocurrency has already reached its peak, while others still anticipate higher prices. Forecasts range from $150,000 to an impressive $500,000, but the possibility of a significant drop in Bitcoin’s price remains as the market matures.
What Past Cycles Tell Us About Bitcoin’s Price Peak
Crypto market expert Mike Alfred shared his thoughts on where Bitcoin’s price is heading now. He bases his analysis on the dynamics of previous cycles and subsequent bear market lows, demonstrating how far the price could potentially fall.
For example: in 2014, Bitcoin crashed from $1,000 to $200 – an 80% drop from its peak. In 2018, the price fell from $20,000 to $3,200 – an 84% decline. Following the same pattern, there was a deep downturn after reaching a price above $69,000 in 2021: in 2022, due to events such as the Gate collapse, BTC fell to around $16,000 – approximately an 80% decrease.
Based on this pattern, the analyst expects that Bitcoin could also fall by roughly the same percentage, but not before reaching a new high above $300,000. In his post, Alfred refers to the current Bitcoin cycle peak as being around $312,000 before a potential sharp decline.
Once this level is reached, the next wave, according to the forecast, will lead to a price drop down to $75,000, which would represent a 76% decline. The analyst expects this crash to occur not in 2025, but in 2026.

In response to the publication, another user named Becky disagreed that Bitcoin could reach $300,000, citing Realized Volatility, which she believed made it impossible. However, Alfred refuted this, pointing out that realized volatility is not constant and has previously reacted unpredictably to periods of increased volatility.
