Trump's World Liberty Financial Burns ₹976.36 Million in Tokens After Rocky Launch

The Trump family’s crypto venture just made a bold move. World Liberty Financial (WLF) burned 47 million WLFI tokens. That’s about ₹976.36 million Indian rupees—roughly $11.34 million USD.

Why? Their market debut wasn’t great. Not terrible, but definitely rough around the edges.

Trading kicked off Monday. Early investors started selling. The price jumped to $0.33 initially. Then it fell. By today, it’s hovering at $0.226. The daily trading volume took a nosedive too—down 62% to $1.77 billion. Kind of surprising for such a high-profile launch.

Still, WLFI sits among the top 30 cryptocurrencies. Its market cap is around $6 billion. Not bad. The token has good visibility now. But that comes with a price. More eyes mean more speculation.

Other Trump tokens aren’t doing so hot either. OFFICIAL TRUMP dropped 22% this quarter. It’s trading at $8.37 now. That’s 89% below its peak of $75.35. Melania’s token? Down 42% in the same timeframe. Ouch.

Token burning isn’t new in crypto. Projects do it to cut supply. Maybe prices go up as a result. WLF seems to be testing this theory. Right now, about 24.66 billion WLFI tokens exist—roughly a quarter of the original 100 billion. This recent burn? Just 0.19% of what’s out there. A drop in the ocean, it seems.

WLF has bigger plans. Their Tuesday governance proposal talked about regular buyback-and-burn cycles. The money would come from liquidity fees. Long-term holders might benefit. Meanwhile, early investors still can’t sell more than 20% of what they have.

The platform launched last year. It also offers a stablecoin called World Liberty Financial USD (USD1). That’s doing well—it’s in the top 10 stablecoins with 2.67 billion in circulation.

The Trump family’s crypto experiment continues. It’s testing both market feelings and token economics. The outcome? Not entirely clear yet.
