In the digital age, privacy protection has become a key issue that cannot be ignored. Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) technology, as a potential solution to this problem, is attracting widespread attention from the industry. In this field, Zama has emerged as a leader in FHE technology.
Zama focuses on applying FHE technology in the fields of blockchain and artificial intelligence, aiming to provide powerful privacy protection solutions. The company's innovation and potential have been highly recognized by the investment community, and by mid-2025, Zama has completed two rounds of significant financing.
In the A round of financing in March 2024, Zama secured an investment of $73 million. This round was led by Multicoin Capital and Protocol Labs, while attracting participation from several well-known institutions including Metaplanet, Blockchange Ventures, and Vsquared Ventures. Notably, the founders of Filecoin, Solana, and Ethereum also expressed support for Zama, which undoubtedly enhances the company's influence in the encryption and blockchain community.
Just over a year later, Zama completed a Series B funding round in June 2025, raising $57 million. This round was co-led by Blockchange Ventures and Pantera Capital. To date, Zama's total funding has exceeded $130 million, and the company's valuation has surpassed $1 billion, successfully entering the ranks of "unicorns" and becoming the first unicorn company in the field of FHE.
Zama's core technology makes it possible to perform computations on encrypted data, which is revolutionary for industries that need to handle sensitive data while protecting privacy. As data privacy issues become increasingly prominent, Zama's technology is expected to play an important role in various fields such as finance, healthcare, and government.
Despite Zama's significant achievements, the development of FHE technology is still in its early stages. In the future, the challenges Zama faces include how to further improve the computational efficiency of FHE and how to promote this technology in a wider range of application scenarios. However, given the company's strong technical capabilities and ample financial support, Zama is expected to continue leading the development of FHE technology, making important contributions to building a safer and more private digital world.
