Wu said that Robin Linus, the founder of BitVM, tweeted about the BitVM3 protocol, which greatly compresses the on-chain footprint of SNARK proof verification from 2~4MB of BitVM2 to 56kB (assertTx) and 200 bytes (disproveTx) through optimistic computation and Garbled Circuit technology, improving efficiency by more than 1,000 times. It is understood that BitVM was first proposed by Robin Linus in 2023 and aims to introduce complex computation and smart contract functions to Bitcoin, and its core concept is "optimistic computing", that is, the default computation is done off-chain and is only verified by on-chain transactions in the event of a dispute.
