The SEC ( has postponed its final decision regarding the spot XRP ETF ) proposed by 21Shares.

It was reported that the process regarding the rule change application for the "21Shares Core XRP Trust," which is planned to be listed on the Cboe BZX exchange, has been extended.

In an official document released by the SEC on May 20, 2025, it was stated that the evaluation process for the proposal to list and trade the fund named "21Shares Core XRP Trust" as a "commodity-based investment fund share" under BZX Rule 14.11(e)(4) is ongoing. The initial application was made on February 6, and the proposal was resubmitted with amendments on February 12.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, who evaluated the issue, stated that delays are expected and said the following:

"Delays in spot cryptocurrency ETFs are to be expected. There are several more XRP ETP applications with deadlines coming up in the coming days. Even if we receive early approval from the SEC, it would be at the earliest by the end of June or the beginning of July. A more likely time frame is the fourth quarter of the year."
