The simple principle of using credit cards for flights and hotels: any flight or hotel that can be booked with points is not "expensive," even if staying at the Park Hyatt in Kyoto or flying in first class with KLM.


What is truly "expensive" is what you have to buy with real money, such as having to fly a Gulfstream Bombardier Dassault or stay at a Hongqiao Aman, etc.
