What is the Ethereum "Pectra" upgrade?
The Pectra upgrade, expected to go live on May 7, 2025, will significantly enhance the efficiency and scalability of the Ethereum network:
1️⃣ The maximum staking amount for a single validator node has been increased from 32 Ether to 2048 Ether, significantly reducing the demand for the number of validator nodes.
2️⃣ Introduction of EIP-7702, allowing Externally Owned Accounts (EOA) to temporarily execute smart contract code, enabling batch transactions and using other tokens to pay Gas fees.
3️⃣ Optimize Layer-2 data processing capabilities to further reduce transaction fees.
The long-term value of $ETH is positive, but the current price of ETH ($1600) is still significantly lagging behind $BTC ($88,000). If BTC really reaches $100,000 next time, whether ETH can break out of the undervalued range is a question worth considering. Perhaps what Ethereum needs is not faster and cheaper, but a new narrative.
