Definition of Spot Trading

Spot trading refers to the immediate exchange of assets at the current market price. On Gate Japan, spot trading specifically means fiat-to-crypto transactions.

Once an order is executed, the assets are delivered directly to the user, following the principles of price priority and time priority in the matching process.

On Gate, the currently supported spot market is BTC/JPY, where users can buy or sell Bitcoin using Japanese Yen.

Limit Order

A limit order allows users to set the exact price at which they want to buy or sell.

  • A buy limit order is executed only when the market price reaches or falls below the set buy price.
  • A sell limit order is executed only when the market price reaches or rises above the set sell price.

Note

If the set price is already more favorable than the current market price:

  • When the buy price is higher than the current market price → the order will be filled immediately at the best available price.
  • When the sell price is lower than the current market price → the order will also be filled immediately at the best available price.

Market Order

A market order is executed instantly at the best available market price.
This order type prioritizes speed and is suitable for users who want to complete a transaction quickly.
