Senator Tillis ends months of obstruction, clearing the way for Waller’s nomination as Federal Reserve chair

ChainCatcher News, North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis said on Sunday local time that he will support Kevin Warsh’s confirmation as Federal Reserve Chair, clearing the last major obstacle for Trump’s pick to succeed Powell.

Tillis had refused to vote in support of Warsh for months, stating that as long as the Justice Department’s criminal investigation into Powell was ongoing, he would not push for any Federal Reserve nominee’s confirmation, calling the criminal investigation an attack on the central bank’s independence, but the investigation appears to have ended last Friday.
