Fake Teams Call Tricked Crypto Founder Into Running Terminal Command
A crypto founder said a Microsoft Teams call that appeared to involve Pierre Kaklamanos and two other apparent Cardano Foundation members led him to run a Terminal command after a fake prompt said Teams needed reinstalling. Microsoft documented similar campaigns in February and March 2026, and Google Cloud’s Mandiant unit described a crypto-focused intrusion that used compromised accounts, spoofed meetings, and AI tools during social engineering. OpenAI said its 4o image model’s heightened realism could, absent safeguards, enable more convincing deepfakes of real people, places, or events.
