Newmont, Barrick still talking about NGM
Newmont Corp. and Barrick Mining Corp. are continuing discussions about their Nevada Gold Mines joint venture, following Newmont’s notice of default against Barrick concerning alleged mismanagement. Despite the ongoing dispute, Newmont reported strong first-quarter earnings with significant adjusted net income and free cash flow and maintained its annual gold production guidance. The company is evaluating a potential acquisition of Barrick’s Fourmile project to integrate it into NGM.
