Altman Discusses Recent Attacks on His Home: More Incidents Likely

According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, Sam Altman responded for the first time to the recent series of attacks on his home during the Core Memory podcast. He mentioned that the night before the incidents, several colleagues were dining at his home and discussing the intense negative media coverage. Someone comforted him by saying, ‘The pressure is so high, but in a way, it’s a good thing.’ Altman replied, ‘At least no one wants to kill me.’ The next day, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at his house. Altman described the incident as ‘providing a reference point’: what others say online, as long as it is limited to words, is not a big deal. He did not elaborate on the details of the attack, only stating, ‘There will be more similar incidents,’ before shifting the topic back to work. Altman’s residence was attacked twice on April 10 and 12. The first incident involved a 20-year-old man, Daniel Moreno-Gama, who threw a Molotov cocktail at the front door, which security personnel quickly extinguished, and no one was injured. Moreno-Gama was later arrested near OpenAI’s headquarters, carrying anti-AI manifestos, and faces multiple felony charges including attempted murder and arson. Federal agents later found more materials at his residence in Texas. In the early hours of April 12, a Honda sedan drove past Altman’s home, and a passenger fired a shot. Two suspects, Amanda Tom and Muhamad Tarik Hussein, were arrested for suspected negligent discharge of a firearm, and police recovered three firearms. Authorities stated that there is no connection between the suspects in the two incidents.
