15 Years Satoshi Nakamoto Officially Disappears, Leaves 1.1 Million BTC
On April 23, 2011, Satoshi Nakamoto sent an email to one of Bitcoin's early developers, Mike Hearn. In the message, Satoshi officially announced his resignation by writing the iconic phrase: "I’ve moved on to other things. It’s in good hands with Gavin and everyone." This correspondence marked the end of Satoshi's direct involvement in the development of the Bitcoin protocol permanently.
Before truly disappearing, Satoshi sent his final message to Gavin Andresen on April 26, 2011. He asked that his figure no longer be depicted as a mysterious figure and emphasized that the community should focus more on developing open-source projects. Satoshi wanted to reinforce Bitcoin's decentralized nature without relying on third parties. Since then, Satoshi has never appeared or communicated through any digital channels again.
To date, it is estimated that around 1.1 million BTC are stored in Satoshi's wallet and have never been moved for 15 years. With Bitcoin's price now at $79,000, the total valuation of Satoshi Nakamoto's assets reaches approximately $86.9 billion or equivalent to IDR 1,390 trillion.
