Senator Blumenthal criticizes Trump ahead of Trump's fundraising conference

According to a report by Politico, the senator stated in an interview that President Trump has ingrained his corruption, and that the satirical cryptocurrency conference is just another way to raise money for himself, directly benefiting from his position. He added: "Many are used to that."

This comes ahead of Trump's cryptocurrency conference next Saturday, April 25. Notably, the conference has once again raised ethical concerns as Democrats investigate the Mar-a-Lago event.

Senator Blumenthal, along with Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff, sent a letter to Bill Zanker, the creator of the satirical "Trump" coin, inquiring why the organizers included the American president's name among the potential attendees, despite the possibility that he might not attend. Promotional materials for the conference listed the president as a speaker, even though he is expected to attend a White House Correspondents' Dinner on the same day.

The possibility of Trump attending the "Trump Coin" conference comes at a time when the "Clarity" law faces setbacks, with ethics issues being one of the main obstacles. Democrats have repeatedly pushed for the inclusion of a clause preventing the president and other elected officials from participating in the cryptocurrency space. One digital currency advocate pointed out that ethics issues pose an imminent threat and are likely to resurface once Senate members resolve other major issues, such as the wording of stablecoin revenues.
