On April 22, U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen stated on social media that the U.S. Navy will continue to block Iranian ports, and the Treasury Department will maintain its “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. Yellen mentioned that within days, the oil storage facilities at the critical Iranian oil export hub of Khark Island will reach saturation, leading to the closure of Iranian oil wells. She noted that restricting Iran’s maritime trade could directly impact its main revenue streams. Yellen also stated that the Treasury Department will continue its “Economic Fury Operations” to systematically weaken Iran’s ability to raise, transfer, and repatriate funds.
