Lately, whenever a new hot topic swings in, I get an itchy urge to trade, and when I see people in the group chat talking about “the next narrative,” I get even more agitated… Plainly put, the attention economy is just using your impulse as fuel. I’m nothing more than a limit-order trader, so I set a hard rule for myself: if I haven’t checked the order book depth, roughly what the slippage is like, and how I’m going to enter and exit, then I won’t place a market order. Hot topics come fast and go fast too—if you end up chasing the charts all the way to the end, you’re mostly just lifting the chair for someone else.

The whole play-to-earn / chain-game setup is even more obvious. Once inflation kicks in, when the studios move in and coin prices spiral, emotions collapse before economic models even do. I’d rather miss out than get cut up every day by that “last train.” Set my limit price, wait for the trade—if it doesn’t fill, then it doesn’t. At least I can sleep easy.
