I recently read an interesting interview. Zakk, the main leader of X Layer, touched on a very relevant topic — the state of Chinese meme culture in the crypto space. And you know what, he’s right in his observations.
His position is simple but important. Yes, memes are fun and positive phenomena, but the Chinese scene shouldn’t rely solely on hype and speculative frenzy. A healthier approach is needed, where different types of memes can develop in parallel and complement each other.
What’s interesting is that Zakk noticed an asymmetry in development. AI-driven memes are more actively appearing on platforms like Base, rather than in the Chinese ecosystem. Why is that? In his opinion, the problem lies in the lack of responsible players in the industry who would genuinely support and stimulate the development of related ecosystems.
This is an important observation. If memes remain only a means of quick earnings during a hype wave, they lose their long-term potential. Infrastructure is needed, platforms that create conditions for sustainable growth.
Zakk clearly advocates for meme culture to develop more maturely and diversely. It’s not just about memes as entertainment — it’s about the viability of the entire crypto ecosystem. If memes are only tools for speculation, the system will remain unstable. Conditions must be created for healthy, long-term development.
