ME News Report, April 7 (UTC+8), The Financial Times of the UK reported that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s AI company Project Prometheus has hired Kyle Kosic, co-founder of xAI. Kosic previously co-founded xAI with Elon Musk and led the infrastructure development of the supercomputer Colossus. In 2024, he returned to his former employer OpenAI and now joins Prometheus to continue responsible for AI infrastructure.

Prometheus has recruited hundreds of engineers and AI researchers at its headquarters in San Francisco and offices in London and Zurich. According to insiders, it has “built the largest data corpus in the engineering field.” The company plans to acquire equity in enterprises across industries such as engineering, aerospace, and construction to gather data and deploy engineers to improve operations. Bezos and co-CEO and Verily (formerly Google Life Sciences) co-founder Vikram Bajaj are raising several billion dollars for a “perpetual capital tool,” which insiders compare to a “Berkshire Hathaway-style holding company.” The company is currently in talks with sovereign funds from Singapore and Gulf countries for investment.

Kosic is one of the earlier members to leave among Musk’s 11 co-founders of xAI. Now all 11 have left, with the last two, Manuel Kroiss and Ross Nordeen, departing at the end of March. Some individuals have expressed dissatisfaction with Musk’s management style. (Source: Financial Times)
