I just read an interesting reflection from Hayden Adams about Rollups and how their role in the Ethereum ecosystem has been questioned.

What he suggests is quite straightforward: criticizing Rollups as "parasites" overlooks the massive engineering work these projects are doing. We're talking about costly and complex development that is truly enabling Ethereum to scale.

Here is the key point according to Hayden Adams: in the current roadmap, Ethereum is deliberately outsourcing this heavy lifting to Rollups. It's not that these projects are taking advantage, but that they are taking on the responsibility required to scale the network.

His final point is interesting. If Ethereum wants to be more self-sufficient and not rely so much on this outsourcing, it needs a real shift in focus. Less abstract research, more practical and committed engineering. That is, less theory, more building.

It's a perspective that many in the community are not considering enough. Rollups are not a temporary patch but part of the architecture Ethereum has chosen. It's worth thinking about.
