So I just found out you can actually give dogs orange slices and honestly it's kind of a game changer for treat variety. Been wondering about this forever since my dog always watches me eat fruit lol. Apparently oranges are totally safe if you do it right - just gotta be smart about it. The peel and seeds are a no-go though, those have some sketchy stuff in them that can mess with their digestion. Only give them like 1-3 slices max per day, nothing crazy. The reason can dogs eat orange slices in moderation is because they're packed with vitamin C, fiber, and potassium which is actually good for their immune system and digestion. Plus they're like 90% water so it's a hydrating snack for summer, which is kinda perfect. But here's the thing - don't go overboard. Too much citrus and sugar will upset their stomach and nobody wants that mess. I read that if your dog has diabetes you should skip it entirely because of the sugar content. And apparently puppies need to be introduced slowly since their digestive systems are more sensitive. One vet was saying can dogs eat orange slices regularly and the answer was basically no - treat them as occasional snacks, not a routine thing since regular dog food already has all the nutrients they need anyway. Fresh oranges are the move, avoid the canned ones packed in syrup. Honestly seems worth trying as a low-calorie treat alternative. Anyone else give their dogs fruit? What's your go-to?
