Just realized something about workplace dynamics that probably applies to a lot of people. If your boss used to be cool and supportive but suddenly treats you like you don't exist, there's usually a reason. Chances are your boss feels threatened by you, and there are some pretty obvious signs if you know what to look for.



First thing I noticed was getting excluded from meetings I should definitely be in. Like, important meetings with key people, and suddenly the invites stop coming. Your boss probably doesn't want you there because they're worried you'll make them look bad or you'll overstep somehow.

Then there's the constant criticism thing. I'm not talking about helpful feedback that actually helps you improve. I mean the kind where your boss just nitpicks everything you do but never gives you anything concrete to actually fix. That's when you know it's personal.

Another red flag is when your workload shifts to basically busywork. You used to get interesting projects, high-profile stuff, and suddenly you're stuck doing meaningless tasks all day. Your boss is keeping you away from anything that could make you look good.

You'll also notice your boss stops asking for your opinion. Good managers actually want input from their team, but if your boss suddenly acts like your thoughts don't matter anymore, or worse, asks everyone else but you, that's a pretty clear sign they want you gone.

And probably the biggest one is when your boss becomes unavailable. Used to grab coffee and chat? Now they can't find five minutes for you. They're basically hoping you'll quit on your own.

If this is happening to you, talking it out directly with your boss usually backfires because they'll just get defensive. Better move is to ask about transferring to another team, frame it as career growth rather than escaping a bad situation. If that doesn't work, honestly might be time to look elsewhere. No point staying somewhere your manager has already decided you're a problem.
