Been looking at some interesting career data lately and wanted to share what I found about female high paying jobs that might actually be worth considering. Turns out there are quite a few lucrative fields where women actually outnumber men, which could mean better negotiating leverage and workplace culture too.
The highest paying opportunities I came across were pretty impressive. Nurse anesthetists top the list at around $171k median salary for women - that's over three times the average American income. Pharmacists follow close behind at $121k, though you need a doctorate to get there. Physician assistants pull in about $105k, and nurse practitioners hit over $103k. These are legit six-figure careers if you're willing to put in the education.
But it's not just healthcare dominating the list. Veterinarians earn around $95k and women make up 64% of the field. Natural sciences managers sit at $82k, psychologists at $80k, and HR managers at $80k. Even some management and specialist roles like marketing managers, budget analysts, and public relations managers are hitting $75-76k ranges where women have strong representation.
What's interesting is that even in these female high paying jobs, there's still a wage gap. Women in most of these fields earn anywhere from $5k to $20k less than their male counterparts doing identical work. Marketing managers see one of the biggest gaps at around $20k difference. But here's the thing - even with that gap, these salaries still blow past the national median.
The common thread? Most require at least a bachelor's degree, many need advanced certifications or doctorates. But the payoff seems worth it. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical scientists - these aren't just jobs, they're careers with real earning potential.
If you're thinking about your next move career-wise, looking at fields where women already have strong footing might actually give you better leverage. You'd have peer networks, potentially more women in leadership to learn from, and proven earning potential. The data here is from 2023, but the trends around these professions haven't shifted dramatically. Worth exploring if you're serious about building real income.
