Gate News message, April 19 — The LayerZero-based cross-chain bridge of Kelp DAO was exploited in an attack resulting in the theft of 116,500 rsETH, valued at approximately $292 million and accounting for about 18% of the token's total circulating supply.


This incident marks the largest DeFi attack of 2026 to date, according to CoinDesk.
In response to the exploit, several protocols have implemented protective measures. Aave, SparkLend, and Fluid have frozen the related rsETH markets, while Lido Finance has temporarily paused new deposits for its earnETH product.
Kelp DAO stated that they are working with LayerZero, auditing firms, and external security experts to investigate the incident.
