CryptoWorld News reports that Solana Institute CEO Kristen Smith is calling on the U.S. Senate to retain developer protection measures in the "Clear Act," with over 200 crypto companies and organizations pushing for the bill's passage before August.

Smith stated in a tweet on June 9 that the bill has a realistic chance of advancing in the Senate, and lawmakers must protect open-source developers and blockchain infrastructure providers.
She pointed out that open-source developers, validators, and non-custodial wallet providers should not face the same regulatory treatment as brokers or custodians.
The call to support the "Clear Act" is growing within the digital asset industry, with more than 200 crypto companies and organizations sending letters to the Senate urging legislators to bring the bill to a vote as soon as possible.

If open-source developers are treated like brokers, how can they continue to play? Let's get this bill passed quickly.

Conflating verifiers and wallet providers with traditional financial institutions is logically nonsensical. Smith is right—protective boundaries must be clearly defined.
