According to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee released six standalone bills and a discussion draft ahead of the crypto tax hearing, covering topics such as crypto donations, mining and staking tax treatment, information reporting requirements, tax treatment consistency, voluntary disclosure mechanisms, and applying existing anti-avoidance rules to digital assets. Another discussion draft addresses offshore crypto tax havens. Witnesses at the hearing include representatives from Fidelity, Coinbase, Coin Center, and the NYU Tax Law Center.
