According to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, ahead of a crypto tax hearing, Republican members of the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means released six standalone bills and a discussion draft covering topics including tax treatment for crypto donations, mining and staking, information reporting requirements, consistency of tax treatment, voluntary disclosure mechanisms, and applying existing anti-avoidance rules to digital assets. Another discussion draft focuses on offshore crypto tax havens. Witnesses at the hearing include representatives from Fidelity, Coinbase, Coin Center, and the NYU Tax Law Center.
