The Zcash community has reached an agreement on the Ironwood consensus rule change.

Deep Tide TechFlow News, June 9th, Zcash core developer Sean Bowe tweeted that all Zcash organizations and protocol developers have reached a consensus on the specific rule change for the Zcash network upgrade Ironwood.

Ironwood will introduce a new fund pool based on the Orchard protocol, and include a toggle flag in the circuits applicable to both the existing Orchard fund pool and the new Ironwood fund pool, which can be switched by consensus rules to prohibit payments from the pool to other users, while retaining the ability to generate change notes.

After the network upgrade, the old Orchard fund pool will enable this restriction, and payments to the old pool will be prohibited by constraining valueBalance. Wallets need to initiate new payments to Orchard addresses through the new fund pool and gradually migrate funds from the old pool.
