A Chinese man was kidnapped and held for ransom in Cambodia; after the ransom attempt failed, he was killed.
According to Cambodian media reports, 53-year-old Chinese real estate company owner Yang Weixin was kidnapped by a gang in Phnom Penh. The suspects extorted $2 million worth of cryptocurrency from his wife through his phone, and after failing to receive the ransom, they murdered him and abandoned his body in a car. Surveillance footage shows three suspects taking him away from his residence parking lot on the evening of May 29. The police have confirmed that the case is a kidnapping and extortion resulting in death, and an investigation is ongoing.
