Vitalik Buterin: The influence of the Ethereum Foundation will continue to diminish

CryptoWorld News: Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin stated that his influence on the Ethereum Foundation is waning, and this change is intentional. He envisions the foundation operating as a "smaller ship" in the future and emphasized that the foundation does not aim to become the absolute core of the ecosystem. Buterin pointed out that the foundation's board of directors is expanding, and his power within the board will continue to decrease, which is exactly what he desires. He reiterated that the foundation has never intended to be an "eternal manager" or the decisive center of the network. Currently, the foundation holds only about 0.16% of the total ETH supply, far less than many competing Layer 1 blockchain foundations. Buterin also criticized the industry's obsession with pursuing maximum throughput, believing it may sacrifice decentralization and security. He warned that focusing solely on achieving 250-millisecond latency and one million transactions per second at the expense of core network properties is a mistake. Instead, he insists that Ethereum must impress in more fundamental aspects, with key goals including provably error-free code and usable chain consensus.

Vitalik's move to self-decentralize is pretty cool; the foundation becoming a small fleet allows the ecosystem to truly decentralize.

From the core to the edge, is Vitalik planning to step back after achieving success?

Error-free code + usable consensus, sounds good, but users only care if the gas can be lowered further

The goal of provably correct code probably needs another five or ten years of development.

Having a low position is actually an advantage; at least you won't be scolded for market manipulation or being a manipulative whale smashing the market.

The operation of a small fleet sounds romantic, but in practice, it might just be a bunch of governance disasters waiting to happen.

The old way of sacrificing security for higher TPS definitely deserves criticism; Solana's outages have become a running joke.
