📊 BTC at $76,900 Today — Iran Deal Bounce or Bull Trap? Here's My May 24 Read
This weekend threw a curveball that nobody had fully priced in and the market reaction is telling a very interesting story right now.
Saturday evening Trump posted on Truth Social that the US-Iran deal is "essentially finalized" — Strait of Hormuz reopening, 60-day ceasefire extension, sanctions easing on Iranian ports. Crypto markets recovered around $75 billion in total cap almost instantly. BTC had already fallen below $75,000 intraday — its lowest level in about a month — before spiking back to the $77,000 zone on the news. That's a $2,000+ swing in hours purely on geopolitical sentiment.
Here's the complexity though and this is what matters for today's price action. Iran is pushing back. Iranian state media is calling Trump's posts "promotional content for US domestic consumption." Core disputes over nuclear material and Hormuz navigation rights still exist. The NYT says Iran agreed to hand over enriched uranium. Iran says that's not settled. Two completely contradictory narratives running simultaneously right now.
That kind of uncertainty is a chop machine for price. We're not getting a clean directional move until either the deal gets officially confirmed or falls apart entirely.
My honest prediction for May 24? BTC oscillates between $75,500 and $78,200. The peace deal narrative gives it a short-term floor but Iran's contradictions cap the upside. I don't see a sustained push above $79K today without a hard official confirmation from both sides.
If I'm trading this — I'm flat or lightly long with a very tight stop below $75,000. The risk-reward for chasing here doesn't justify size. Patience today, positioning tomorrow once the geopolitical picture clears.
Watch the Polymarket US-Iran peace contracts closely. At $154M in volume and 91% odds on a deal by year-end — that market is telling you something the spot price hasn't fully priced yet.
Do you think the Iran deal confirmation sends BTC straight through $80K, or do we chop sideways until the fine print is actually signed — what's your price call for today?
